Prisoners from The Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) in The Philippines show talent exists in unusual places - even a prison. This 2010 video shows extreme coordination in a performance of Michael Jackson's "They Don't Care About Us" choreography from the "This Is It" film.
The dance is led by Jackson's longtime choreographer Travis Payne and dancers Daniel Celebre and Dres Reid. "That was the most moving experience that I could have imagined," Payne said in a later interview. "I didn't know that it would be so special. I knew that we were going there to celebrate Michael, and I had the idea because before he passed I would always show him ..."
Several inmates of the CPDRC became famous years earlier for an amateur video posted of the inmates performing choreography to Jackson's hit "Thriller." This was the video Payne showed the famous entertainer.
"The videos I uploaded were never meant for entertainment," Byron Garcia, a security consultant for the CPDRC said. "I wanted to inform other jails about what was happening here." Garcia said exercise and dance programs within the prison helped curb discipline problems and violence among the inmates.
